Parts and Memory Therapy

Parts and Memory Therapy is a modality that uses different ego-states or "Parts" of our psyche to access specific sets of memories that fuel the emotional reactions that affect us in the present.  Often the emotional reactions that we acquire through past experience help us survive and adapt as we move through life, but sometimes the emotional learning becomes outdated and can become problematic.  For example, it is helpful for us to learn to duck and cover when we hear a loud bang in a combat zone but it is problematic when we are no longer in a combat zone.  Or when a child learns to stay quiet and not share emotions when growing up due to severe consequences but that same learning can ruin relationships later in life.

Using the techniques in Parts and Memory Therapy we can process those foundational memories and reset the emotional learning associated with those early experiences and thus eliminate the problematic emotional or behavioral reactions.  Most therapies are unable to do this and focus on coping with or managing the emotions and try to affect incremental change.  With Parts and Memory we are able to heal the cause of our emotional reactions and therefore we are able to affect permanent transformational change in a much shorter period of time.

Have a mini experience of Parts and Memory Therapy by following along to find your Happy Part.  In the above video I guide you to saying hello to yourself in a happy memory.  We call this part a "Stuck-in-Memory" Part and then I guide you to meet the larger Happy Part that contains all your happy memories.  We call this type of part a "Freestanding Part."
